About
Rachael Cozad Fine Art specializes in American Paintings and Modern & Contemporary Art. Rachael Cozad brings singular experience to her work as a private art dealer and consultant through her more than twenty-five years of comprehensive experience in the visual arts. She has held leadership roles as Director and CEO of the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City (from 2001-2012) and was also Executive Director and Chief Curator of the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Foundation in Los Angeles (from 1994-2001). The Cantor Foundation holds the world’s largest collection of sculpture by the 19th Century French master Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). She is currently working alongside scholars to launch an on-line public-access update of the George Caleb Bingham Catalogue Raisonné originally produced in 1986 by E. Maurice Bloch.
Rachael holds a M.A. in art history from California State University, Los Angeles, and a B.A. from Texas Christian University. She is a certified appraiser with Appraisers Association of America. She has curated exhibitions for major museums including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. She has led major projects at The White House and New York’s Rockefeller Center and internationally, in Australia, France, Russia and Singapore. Her record of overseeing production of publications in conjunction with these exhibitions is extensive, and includes, most recently, Revelation: Major Paintings by Jules Olitski and The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art: The First Ten Years as well as two authoritative books on Rodin, Rodin: A Magnificent Obsession (the Catalogue Raisonné of the Cantor holdings) and Rodin’s Monument to Victor Hugo.
This extensive background in museum work as well as in the private sector underscores Cozad’s unique strength as a private art dealer: a deep knowledge of the field and its participants and a reputation for connoisseurship, integrity, and discretion. Rachael Cozad Fine Art is always seeking to purchase a wide range of museum quality 19th and 20th century American paintings and sculpture, and select modern and contemporary art of the highest quality.
