Alice Aycock (American, b. 1946)

Born in 1946 in Harrison, Pennsylvania, Aycock is currently the Director of Sculpture at Yale University. Primarily known for her large-scale installations, sculpture, and modernist drawings, and as an early proponent of the Land Art movement in the 1970s. Many of her works present the concept of mysterious interiors and reflect ideas about industrialization on human beings. She has referred to her work as “psycho-architecture” because of its curious, often perplexing nature. Throughout her prolific career, Aycock has had several retrospective exhibitions and created major outdoor installations worldwide. Her works are in the permanent collections of important museums, sculpture gardens, and private collections internationally.
