Jim Dine (American, b. 1935)
Jim Dine is recognized primarily as a Pop artist and poet, often renowned for his creativity and wit. He was an important contributor in the late 1950s in New York, to Conceptual and Performance Art, along with Claes Oldenburg, Allan Kaprow, and John Cage While his output has been prolific, he is best recognized for his imagery involving hearts, tools, and bathrobes, which were all presented as a form of self-portraiture. His work is in major collections worldwide and he has been the subject of important solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art. His sculpture, paintings and graphics are highly collectible by private collectors.
