Matthew Pillsbury (French/American, b. 1973)

Pillsbury lives and works in New York where he received his M.F.A. from the School of Visual Arts, New York, New York in 2004.  (He previously received a B.A. from Yale University, New Haven, CT., and also attended the Ecole Alsacienne, in Paris, France.  Fascinated by the role that technology plays in people’s everyday lives, his “Screen Lives” series documents people watching television and looking at computer screens in their homes as a means to reflect on their impact.  Since 2004 he has had numerous one-person exhibitions at blue-chip galleries worldwide, many specializing in photography.  His work is in important museum collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Musee de Louvre, Paris, France; Sir Elton John Photography Collection, Atlanta, GA; and many others.
